The first week before school for freshman at St Scholastica is a time referred to as August Adventures. During this week incoming first-year students have the opportunity to participate in one of 3 different programs: CSO (Community Service Orientation), MLO (Multicultural Leadership Orientation), and SOAR (Student Outdoor Adventure Retreat). JJ elected to take part in the CSO program and had a great time doing it. During the day they worked at a variety of locations doing everything from pulling weeds at the Hartley Nature Center to building sound barricades at Animal Allies, to pulling up old carpeting and moving furniture for a local church. But it wasn’t all labor… the evenings were filled with events both on campus and off visiting Canal Park, watching movies and getting to know one another. Who wouldn’t have a big grin??? He’s the only guy in a group with 9 women. 🙂
Yes… that is JJ sitting in a pew (head down, sunglasses on his head). We always said it was up to the kids once they were old enough to make their own decisions on religion. But so soon???? 🙂 In reality, this was a team building exercise, I believe it was some sort of “blessing” at the school and the freshman students apparently all showed up. Details? I didn’t ask.
Well, he is there. JJ moved in to the College of St Scholastica, met his RA (Collin Anderson-right in the photo), the head basketball coach (David Staniger-not pictured) and another of his basketball team-mates (Connor Gray-left in the photo). Thanks guys for helping out in moving JJ into the dorms! These old bones appreciated the help. He’ll be living in the Sommers Hall – Suites with 3 other athletes. 2 basketball players and a tennis player. Later in the week, the rest of his basketball team was all moved in to the dorms and wherever the upper-classmen have shacked up. I won’t even attempt to name all those guys… don’t know them all by sight just yet.
Nicki had her 2nd recital this past weekend. She sang Bel Piacere by Handel And amazing enough, she took a photo with her brother before he heads off to college

One stop shop so to speak. Hopefully the new friendlier interface will be appreciated as well.
